They use ankh as there sing mark, the ankh ('key of life', 'the key of the Nile', 'crux ansata') was the Egyptian hieroglyphic character that read "eternal life", a triliteral sign for the consonants. Egyptian gods are often portrayed carrying it by its loop, or bearing one in each hand, arms crossed over their chest.

The 69 Eyes' music was described as mix of the gloominess of gothic rock with guitar-powered rock'n'roll. Their music is influenced by other artists such as The Doors, Elvis Presley, Hanoi Rocks, Billy Idol, and The Sisters of Mercy as well as vampire films and literature. The term "goth 'n roll" is used by fans to describe their style.

They are a Gold selling Finnish rock band. They are currently signed to EMI Finland. The band's albums are now distributed worldwide. The End Records acts as the band's official North American distributor, as Nuclear Blast Records provides distribution in Mainland Europe, Ireland and the UK. Australia will be handled by AmpHead Music. All Asia and Latin America releases are handled by EMI affiliates.

The band was formed 1989, they first played 'glam' rock but with there album Wasting the dawn they turned to Gothic rock stile and since then there popularity is growing
